My name is Jimmy Maher, and my wife and I recently closed on a newly built
Meritage home in Sarasota. It has been a nightmare! We’ve had a broken AC unit for a week during a Florida summer, no hot water, tubs that wouldn’t drain, faucets that didn’t work, drywall repair everywhere, a pantry door installed backwards, unfinished cabinetry work, trash in every sink, a mismatched shower enclosure, mismatched lighting fixtures, a sliding door that needed to be replaced, paint spills everywhere, trim shoe molding that is simply awful, towel bars falling off the wall….I could go on, but you get the point….in a rush to close on these homes the workmanship suffers severely…these aren’t supply chain issues, they’re construction issues, and it only gets worse dealing with the warranty folks….We had a warranty rep stop by and promise to fix everything…I’ve never seen nor heard from him since…messages are rarely returned and when they are, it’s someone else promising to help…..I thought maybe it was just us, but all of my neighbors have shared similar stories of their experiences….I just wanted to share my story with you. Thank you.
I am requesting an email address in order to submit a letter to Meritage Homes
The corporate office email address is not working for me. I need to email you about an issue, or at least send you a pm on Facebook messenger, if you are answering messages on Facebook.
Good company, I have one small complaint though: It would be great if they had a chat function or online email form where you could easily contact a customer service representative.
We purchased our new home in October 2016 in San Antonio TX with the understanding that we were purchasing an energy efficient home which is far from the truth and only to learn that Meritage does not stand by their product and once you close you are on your own as far as warranty repairs are concerned. We were told that we would have a 21 day walk through with repairs as well as a 1 year walk through. We closed on 10/21/16 and submitted a list of repairs along with concerns about the structure issues that have been existing since around the 6th month mark or so. It has been 7 months since we submitted a list of repairs for our 1year warranty request, which included the following:
1. 3 distinct vertical cracks at the foundation wall exterior
2. Gap at expansion joint, uneven & widens from top to bottom
3. Exterior brick cracks (Repaired)
4. Laundry room window only opens 1/3 of its intended travel
5. Sloping floor at entry hall way
6. Interior wall cracks (partially repaired, not painted)
7. Several windows separated from drywall
8. Flashing at brick to cement flaws and not sealed, vulnerable to leakage.
9. Garage door
The few issues that has been address were addressed after reaching out to the Kathy Borge from Corporate office multiple times. We have called Jessica in the warranty department multiple times, she never returns our calls. From my understanding the person responsible for taking care of our warranty request is Kenny Moehrig who stopped responding to our text and calls on or about 4/23/18.
The last time I spoke with Mr. Moehrig he informed me that the issue is with the contractors and that he was having difficulty getting them to come out to do the repairs.
